Terms of Service
1. Purpose
These Terms of Service (hereinafter "ToS") define the conditions of access to and use of the Inklyne website (inklyne.app) and the services provided by Jean-Christophe Bianic (hereinafter "the Publisher").
By accessing the site or using its services, the user acknowledges having read and accepted these ToS without reservation.
2. Service overview
Inklyne is an online writing workshop that allows users to:
- write and organise long-form texts (manuscripts, chapters, scenes, notes, journal) in a dedicated editor, with version history,
- import and export their texts,
- obtain a reasoned reading of their texts by an artificial intelligence (Prima Lectio), either from within the application or through an AI client the user connects themselves,
- share a manuscript with beta readers and join writing circles,
- track their practice and regularity.
The service is accessible:
- during a free trial opened when the account is created (see section 8),
- then by subscription.
3. Access to the service
The service is accessible from any modern browser, with no installation required.
Access requires creating a user account by signing in with a Google account. Inklyne stores no password: authentication is handled by Google.
The user agrees to provide accurate, up-to-date and complete information and not to impersonate a third party.
4. Intellectual property
All elements of the Inklyne site (structure, code, texts other than user content, images, graphics, logos, etc.) are the exclusive property of Jean-Christophe Bianic.
Any reproduction, representation, distribution or exploitation, in whole or in part, without prior authorisation is prohibited.
User content
Texts and projects created by users in their personal space remain their full property. Inklyne claims no ownership or exploitation right over this content and does not use it to train any artificial-intelligence model.
The user retains full responsibility for the content they create or share.
5. User responsibilities
The user agrees to:
- not use Inklyne for unlawful purposes or contrary to public decency,
- not share hateful, discriminatory, violent, defamatory or unlawful content,
- respect copyright and the intellectual property of others.
The Publisher reserves the right to suspend a user's access or remove content in case of a clear breach of these terms.
A reporting channel is available at: contact@inklyne.app
6. Personal data
Inklyne collects personal data (Google sign-in information, content, usage data) in compliance with the GDPR.
The purposes of collection are:
- managing user accounts,
- operating the service, including backing up texts,
- managing the trial, the subscription and billing,
- producing the AI readings requested by the user,
- usage tracking to improve the service,
- sending service-related information (transactional emails and, where applicable, newsletters with prior consent).
Data is not sold. Some of it is processed by service providers necessary to run the service (hosting, payments, email delivery, AI analysis, audience measurement), listed in the Privacy policy.
The user may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure or objection at any time by writing to: contact@inklyne.app
7. Cookies
The site uses technical cookies necessary for the operation of the service, as well as audience-measurement cookies (Google Analytics) and advertising cookies (Reddit Ads), both of the latter subject to the user's explicit consent.
A banner allows the user to manage their preferences at any time.
8. Offer details
This article summarises the commercial terms. The Terms of Sale set them out in full and prevail where the two differ.
Free trial
Every account creation opens a 7-day free trial, with no payment method required. The trial can be extended, by completing the onboarding steps proposed in the application, up to 21 days in total.
Subscription
At the end of the trial, full access to the service requires a subscription. Two plans are offered, Journal and Complete, each billed monthly or annually. The features included and the current prices are shown on the Pricing page and on the checkout page.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Inklyne has no access to card numbers.
The subscription renews automatically at each term unless cancelled. The user may cancel at any time from their account; subscriber access continues until the end of the period already paid for.
End of trial without a subscription
If no subscription is taken at the end of the trial, the account is kept but access to the writing features is restricted. The user keeps the ability to read, export and delete their texts.
9. Right of withdrawal
Under EU and French consumer law, a consumer has 14 days from taking out a subscription to withdraw without giving a reason, by writing to contact@inklyne.app.
As the subscription starts immediately at the user's express request, the user accepts that, in case of withdrawal, the amount corresponding to the service already provided up to the notice of withdrawal remains due; the remainder of the paid period is refunded.
10. Readings by artificial intelligence
Prima Lectio readings requested from within the application are produced by sending the text concerned to Anthropic's API. Inklyne does not use these texts to train any model and does not share them with any other third party for that purpose.
When the user connects their own AI client (Claude, ChatGPT or any other compatible client) through the Inklyne connector, the reading is produced by that client: the terms and privacy policy of the chosen provider apply to that processing.
An AI reading is a reader's opinion, not a guarantee of quality or outcome. The user remains the sole author of, and solely responsible for, their text.
11. Data export and deletion
The user may export their texts at any time from the application, in several formats.
They may request the deletion of their account from their settings. The account is then deactivated immediately and its data permanently erased after a 30-day period, during which the deletion can be cancelled on request.
12. Availability and changes
The Publisher strives to keep the service available but does not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be updated, changed or interrupted for maintenance.
13. Changes to the ToS
The Publisher reserves the right to modify these ToS at any time. Users will be informed by email or via the site in case of substantial changes. Continued use of the service after a modification constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
14. Governing law
These ToS are governed by French law. In case of dispute, the parties will seek an amicable solution before referring the matter to the competent courts.
